I just had to lem a book. If you are not familiar with the term, it was coined by a popular science fiction and fantasy video show / podcast found on the Geek and Sundry YouTube channel. It describes the act of giving up on a book before finishing it.
I’ve only had to do this with a few books myself, and its been a painful decision each time. I hate starting a story and than not finishing it. It can really bug me to not know how the story ends. Keeping this in mind, try and imagine how crappy a book must be in order for me to lem it.
Now, I won’t make this blog post about books that I have lemmed. If you really want to know what books I have done this too recently feel free to check out my Lemmed book shelf on goodreads.
So hear is the guideline I try to stick to when I’m thinking about lemming a book. If by page 50 of the book, it has not grabbed my attention, I drop it. There are too many books that I want to read for me to waste my time reading a book that just isn’t getting to me.
What are your standards on lemming a book?
